I feel like they are catered to the lowest common denominator - people with no sense of humour. So, for instance, a show like Two and A Half Men makes a ton of fart and sex jokes that are so mediocre that people who think they have a sense of humour (and generally everyone without a sense of humour wants to believe that they have a sense of humour, because that’s cool and popular and normal, right?) so they will watch the most accessible jokes and sit their chuckling ‘Oh yeah, farts!’ when really it’s just TV fodder (n. 1. shit you watch on TV inbetween things you actually want to watch 2. shit you watch during the time of day you have designated as TV time.) Big Bang Theory is identical to Two and A Half Men just marketed to a different audience using different jokes - nerd (READ: People who use computers) jokes and that one phrase they loop throughout an episode: ‘Oh Sheldon - YOU SO CRAAAZY!!’. And those people, those sad unfunny people, those arseholes, who stole Steve Carrell’s Emmy - THEY EAT THAT SHIT UP. They don’t recognise it for what it is, they applaud it’s pseudo-brilliance. All that it is is TV fodder. Easily accessible programs that aren’t funny, refuse to make you think, won’t allow you to feel or connect to it’s one dimensional characters and dribble the same jokes and storylines episode to episode, season to season, until eventually you want to kill yourself. And obviously I don’t mean passionately plunge a dagger into thy heart - I mean your brain shuts itself down due to the lack of stimulation and you slowly decompose leaving behind a skeleton and some foul smelling soup. THIS IS WHAT CHUCK LORRE IS DOING TO YOU!!
So ask yourself:
Do I like Two And A Half Men and/or Big Bang Theory?
If the answer is Yes, ask yourself:
Do I want to continue negatively affecting society?
Do I want all the funny people in the world to hate me?
Should I just kill myself now/stop watching crappy TV?
Yeah, same impression I got from these shows.
only one who realised how basic these shows were.
oh yes, and don’t forget Black Books, that’s obviously the same but making fun of alcoholics and owners of books shops.
